Group Show, Wunderland @ tactileBOSCH

March 9, 2011

I am participating in Wunderland, group show at tactileBOSCH Gallery & Studios, Cardiff, UK.

http://tactilebosch.co.uk

Runs until 18th March 2011

Art Exhibition in association with the WAA

As part of the International Women’s Day Centenary celebrations, tactileBosch brings you Wunderland. Selected eclectically like the wunderkammer of a wanderer through exotic lands, this is a female, sideways look at how things are or might be. Elliptical, sometimes obtuse, but definitely more Paula Rego than Lewis Carroll; Eva Hesse meets Herman Hesse. The women in this show bring their own particular take on matters surreal, serious and sublime, bound together by a light curatorial thread that weaves together these extra-ordinary perspectives. Access all areas of art practice in the special nooks and crannies that only tactileBosch can offer.

Artists include:
Jacqueline Alkema / Nazma Ali / Sonja Benskin Mesher RCA / Susie Bright / Megan Broadmeadow / Philippa Brown / Gemma Copp / Helen Clifford / Josephine Coy / Hannah Lewis Davies / Leanne Davies / Shona Davies + Keiko Yamazaki / Shelley Davis / Dale Evans / Susan Francis / Dorcas Frazer / Rose Gibbon / Helen Gillam / Eve Dent + Zoe Gingell aka The Mothersuckers / Helen Grundy / Marie Helgesen / Liz Helman / Vicky Hodgson / Barbara Howey / Delpha Hudson / Dilys Jackson / Jessica John / Rachel Joyce / Dragana Jurisic / Cath Lewis / Hannah Morris / Chris Bird-Jones, Ann Jordan, Brenda Oakes + Anne Price Owen / Vernetta O’Connor / Jeanette Orrell / Ione Rucquoi / Dawn van Gerven / Angeline Schube / Estelle Woolley / Elizabeth Waterhouse

Les Frigos ont un Tigre dans le Freezer

May 26, 2010
I will be participating in the 2010 annual Portes Ouvertes aux Frigos. Here is some information regarding the event (English version below):

2nd Floor, Escalier B

Saturday, 29th of May, 12 – 10 p.m.

Sunday, 30th of May, 12 – 8 p.m.

(Metro & RER: Bibliothèque François Mitterrand)

“For the past twenty-five years, people have been working in les Frigos, the building that once served as the cold rooms for the CEGF. Having survived projects for the olympic games, the world exposition, and the expansion of the planned office district of the 13th arrondissement in Paris, les Frigos today boasts nearly 200 occupants engaged in a diverse range of activities.

Although the SNCF (the French national rail system) was the original landlord, the artists, artisans, small industries and companies of les Frigos now rent from the city of Paris. Their current landlord never made any improvements to their studios and workshops.  Some of the spaces even lack windows.

Five to ten thousand people attend the portes ouvertes (open doors) at les Frigos every year. Some come with a passion for collecting art. Others are simply curious. But everyone discovers here a unique place in the midst of a modernized neighborhood, a testimonial to the tenacity and creativity of the building’s occupants.

Some forty workshops and studios will open their doors this weekend, and visitors will be welcomed by concerts and other events. The vernissage (for some studios) will take place 28 May, from 6-10pm.  The jazz concerts will run on the second floor from 2 to 6 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Simultaneously, you can see twelve of the Les Frigos artist’s work at the AAF (Affordable Art Fair) from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th of May (in front of Metro Chevaleret in the old warehouse “Halle Sernam/ Freyssinet”.)
